I tried to find an existing thread to fold this into, but couldn't.
I'm increasingly concerned about what will actually be happening at game. We are constructing this currently as essentially 4 simultaneous tabletop games taking place with a Kingmaker base. Groups of PCs set out to "explore" and have encounters with an ST while Resler holds down the fort. I'm concerned about what the players not doing "mods" are doing.
Example: Game starts. Players 1-6 want to go to Hex A. 7-10 want to go to Hex B. 11-20 want to go Hex C. 21-23 want to go to Hex D. 24-30 have map stuff they need to do. 31-35 don't want to explore or do maps.
Jim runs A. From Start (noon) to 1:30, he runs that group. Players 1-2 go back to base. 3-6 want to move on to Hex B.
Alex runs B. His group finishes up their stuff in Hex B at 12:45 and move onto Hex C as a group.
Charles runs C. His group splits halfway through. 11-14 want to go off to A for some reason at 12:30. At 1:15, 15-16 want to go to D. 17-20 stay in C until 2:00.
Travis runs D. It's a small group and they wrap up at 1:00 and go as a group to Hex E.
So,
In A: Jim is running his group. At 12:30 new players appear and have to be worked in.
In B: Alex has run stuff from 12:00 to 12:45 and presumably moves on to other things. 45 min. later, at 1:30, 4 players show up in B.
In C: 4 players are there from 12:00 to 2:00. Some leave at 12:30. A bunch arrive at 12:45.
In D: 3 players are there for an hour (12-1). Travis moves on to E but at 1:15, 2 people show up for Travis, but his group is in E, not D.
etc etc
Meanwhile, what the heck are players 31-35 doing? Where are they IC? What about 24-30? What do they do when they are done their map stuff?
We need the equivalent of "We're sitting around the palace roleplaying". We need an ST who will be available to that group. We need guidelines about players joining existing "mods" or leaving them early.
Thoughts?
